Dear Parents,
This week we are going to be
working with the letter Oo. The vocabulary that we are going to be focusing on
is the following: ostrich, owl, otter, octagon, octopus, olives, ox, on, onion, off
Some of the stories that we will be reading this week are:
Children will keep learning about the many ways people travel.
This week we will learn the concept of opposites. When talking to your child you can do this simple exercises: "Is that building tall or short?" and "Are you full or hungry?" Children will understand the concept better if they can see how there are opposites all around them.
Preschoolers need to learn about opposites. As they become older and are able to string words together in sentences, being able to use descriptive words, such as "hot" and "cold" and "big" and "small," helps their communication skills. Knowing about opposites also helps preschoolers learn about the differences among various things. This knowledge aids the child when entering Kindergarten.
HOLIDAY – There will be no school
on Monday, January 20 in recognition of the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.
