WEEK OF NOVEMBER 10-14, 2014



Dear Parents:


This week we are going to be working with the letter Kk. The vocabulary words that we are going to be focusing on are the following: kite, key, king, koala, kangaroo, kitten, kitchen, kettle, kiwi, kiss, kick.












Story of the week:


Percy the park keeper loves to spend time with his animal friends, even though his work in the park keeps him very busy. The animals often need Percy's help, and he is always there to lend a hand.

In Math we will be working with: AB & AAB patterns, practice writing numbers, review shapes, practice counting from 1-10.


This week we will begin a new theme: ''FOOD''. In this unit, children will learn about healthy foods.It is essential for preschoolers to learn about the importance of nutrition. Studies show that when you learn to eat properly at an early age, you will make healthier choices in the future. This preschool theme will also cover other important elements of good health, such as sleep and exercise. 
Vocabulary for this unit:bread, cereal, sandwich, apple, carrot, milk, juice, pancakes, banana, meat, food pyramid, vegetables, fruits.




Rhyme of the Week:






MIDTERM – This Friday, November 14 marks the midpoint of the second quarter. Midterm Progress reports will be sent home next Friday, November 21.


DPTO BINGO – The DPTO wishes to invite everyone in our community to their FALL BINGO, which will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21. The bingo card has a cost of L100, with the possibility to win very attractive prizes while having a wonderful evening with your family and friends. Pupusas, tacos, hot dogs and pizzas plus drinks and desserts will be sold, and a room will be available for the little ones to watch movies and be in the “night care”. Please support the DPTO by attending and bringing your relatives and friends.

FUNDACION ABRIGO – Once again, Discovery School support Fundacion Abrigo in their mission to lodge families from the rural areas who come to Hospital Escuela. WE are asking our school families to send 1 gallon of in the disinfectant per family, and to send it in by Friday, November 21. What a wonderful way to show our gratitude for what we have – to share what we have with those in need!


SCHOOL CAFETERIA – Ms. Sheyla McCaul wants to remind parents to visit the cafeteria’s bloghttp://wolvescafeteria.blogspot.com/ to check out the delicious and nutritious menu that is available for our students (and parents!). The cafeteria will be offering a spectacular Thanksgiving menu for the classroom Thanksgiving celebrations, and for families to enjoy at home.
