WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 5-9

Dear Families: The students are finishing their first learning unit “Shapes and Colors.”  As a closing activity we are going to read the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? By Bill Martin jr. and Erik Carl.

In social studies the children are learning about Honduras. They participated in the assembly of Dia de la Bandera and later in class they painted the flag of Honduras.

This week we will study the colors orange and purple and the shapes diamond and star. They will continue to do activities to improve their fine motor skills. Some of these activities are tracing, cutting and painting with different tools.

Also, the children will learn the lyrics of the chorus of the national anthem of Honduras.

Important Reminders:

As part of the festivities for our Independence Day Celebration on Tuesday September 13th, we will be having a Pot Luck Snack on Tuesday September 13. We are asking each child to bring a typical Honduran breakfast/ snack food to share with 5 classmates. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher to let them know what you will be sending in order to avoid repeats of the same food or drinks.

We are also encouraging children (and teachers) to wear “Honduran” clothes on this day. This may be a typical Honduran outfit (traje tipico), the National Soccer team sports outfit, any creative dress up that is representative of Honduras, or simply blue and white clothes.

If you have any questions or doubts please feel free to contact your child's teacher.

Please remember to send your child’s folder back to school. Also, please send back to us the written permission to put your child’s photos on the blog. Thank you very much if you have already done so.
 Ms.Gigi and Ms.Vivian
