WEEK OF MARCH 17-21










This week we are going to be working with the letter Ww. The vocabulary that we are going to be focusing on is the following: watermelon, walrus, watch, whale, wind, waves, wagon, waffles.




Some of the stories that we will be reading this week are:



In Math children will be practicing counting and writing numbers 11 and 12 and they will review doing patterns.


In our theme, we are going to be talking about ''wild animals'' the vocabulary we will be learning is: giraffe, lion, tiger, zebra, jaguar, zoo, gorilla, hippo, alligator, flamingo, kangaroo, camel, elephant.



On Monday, we have been invited to Kindergarten class. They are going to be having an Irish family (Isabella´s McCaul parents) coming into the classroom to explain to us about this special day. They will be doing some fun activities with us. Students should wear anything green on this day!













We have talked to the students that we have started the hot season in Honduras. Please provide your child with a water bottle every day. Have them wear light clothes; they can bring a hat to protect from the sun, put sunscreen on their face and arms.








Report Cards will go out this Tuesday, March 18. If you would like to come in for a conference and one was not requested by a teacher, please do not hesitate to contact us to set an appointment for the afternoon of Thursday, March 20.


There is no school for students on Thursday, March 20. This Friday, March 21 is our Spring Break Holiday!


CAYOS COCHINOS COMMUNITY SERVICE: As part of TES, Trabajo Educativo Social, the 11th graders will be going to Cayos Cochinos the 5th – 9th of April to assist the community of Cayo Mayor. The Alfonso Lacayo Public School is in need of school materials, so the Junior class has decided to conduct a voluntary school supply drive. They would appreciate any and all donations but wish to ask the following classes that each student contributes with the following:
1st & 2nd grade – 2 sharpeners
3rd & 4th grade – 1 pack of 12 colored pencils
5th grade – 2 scissors
6th – 8th grade – 2 normal sized composition notebooks
9th grade – black, red, and blue pens (one of each)
10th grade – 1 pack of 12 pencils and 2 erasers
12th grade – 4 UHU sticks
BAKE SALE – On Wednesday, March 19, the Juniors will be having a bake sale during snack and lunch. The Juniors will also have a box were all students are welcomed to place their donations for Cayos Cochinos

CHOIR MEETING – There will be a Choir meeting on Monday, March 31 at 3:15 p.m. in the school library. Important information will be discussed in this meeting. Choir parents must attend!

CONCERT - The Discovery School Music Department is inviting you to a Piano and Singing Recital . Tickets available with Ms. Norma and Ms. Pamela.
