WEEK OF AUGUST 11-15, 2014

Dear Parents,

This week we will begin with 
the study of the letter Aa. We will be doing a variety of fun activities with this letter. The vocabulary words we are going to be focusing on are: apple, ant, arrow, astronaut, alligator, ax, animals, acrobat, arm, anteate, anchor.

In our first Social Studies theme we will be talking about ''MY SCHOOL'' Some of the vocabulary words we will be introducing in this unit are: school, glue, pencil, crayons, eraser, scissors, sharpener, colors, markers, paintbrush.


























In Math we will be doing one to one correspondence activities.One-to-one correspondence is a fundamental skill in both math and reading.

Adults use this concept every day. We automatically count out appropriate dollar bills and coins to pay for items. We set the table for the right amount of people. We read in a left-to-right progression, scanning each word as we read it.

But, one-to-one correspondence is often difficult for young children to comprehend. In Math recognizing the number "ten," and being able to count out "ten" items are two separate skills. Linking objects with numbers enables a child to count with understanding.

Mastering one-to-one correspondence is essential for organized, meaningful counting. This leads to an eventual ability to perform higher-level calculations.

Please remember to check your child’s folder every single day and send it back to school the next day. We are going to start working on this special routine with the students this week. Remember that this is the best way for you to communicate with us.

We would like to remind you that there is a $ 150.00 or Lps. 3250.00 fee to buy all the supplies your child will be using throughout the school year. If you have not sent this fee, please do so as soon as possible.
