Dear Parents,
This week we are going to learn the letter Gg. The vocabulary words for this letter are: goat, guitar, girl, garden, gum, gift, grapes, goose, gorilla, grass.
Some of the
stories that we will be reading are the following:
In Math we are going to be working with the number 8. We wil;l be doing graphing using gumball graphing cards. We will do different activities during center time to review counting and recognizing numbers from one to eight.
THEME:
''FIVE SENSES''
Children learn everything through the five senses, so it is very essential for children to learn how they comprehend information. This unit will explain each of the five senses in detail and give children a chance to explore their knowledge using their five senses. They will be using their eyes, hands, ears, nose, and mouth to gain knowledge of the world around them.
This Friday we are having
Parent-Teacher Conferences. You will be getting a note in your child´s folder
stating the time that we have assigned each one of you. Please return this note
signed. If you are unable to attend at the time that has been assigned for you
let us know and we will work it out at a different time.
Book Character Day is around the corner. We are going to be having a
celebration on Thursday, October 29th since there is UN Day Celebration on
Friday, October 30th. We are requesting Lps. 35 to buy a nice basket
to go trick-or-treating around the school. Also, we are asking for one bag of
candies, lollipops, chocolates or any other small treat you would
like to send. Please send this no later than Wednesday. If you would like to
volunteer to help out by donating snacks or lunch, please let us know so we can
get together and meet as soon as possible to plan this celebration for the
children. They are all very excited about this day and we would like to have
something nice prepared for them.
BOOK CHARACTER DAY - In keeping with
Discovery School tradition, students are invited to dress up as his/her
favorite book character. Your child should pick a book that he/she has read or
that has been read to him/her. It should also be a book that was written before
it became a movie or TV show. Please remember: NO SCARY COSTUMES! The 3rd, 4th,
and 5th graders will set up a live interactive museum on Thursday, October
29 which will last from 8:50-9:40 a.m. This will allow the younger students
to come and learn about new book characters. Parents are welcome to come and
meet all of the exciting characters and learn about some new books.
